The Collections Department at Battleship Cove in Fall River, America’s Largest Fleet Museum, is accepting interns to assist with collections management projects.
This unpaid internship is open to students currently pursuing their BA or MA in Museum Studies, Public History, History, Art History, or other applicable field. Hours are flexible between 8:30-4, Monday through Friday, and a minimum dedication of 8 hours a week is desirable. Interns will be working on site at the Battleship Massachusetts as well as at Battleship Cove’s collections storage at the Marine Museum at Fall River.
Scope and Learning Opportunities: Interns will be responsible for assisting the Director of Collections and PT Boat Director with cataloging, inventorying, and re-housing a wide variety of collections, including photographs, textiles and uniforms, and other object-based collections. Additionally, interns will be responsible for organizing and entering this information into the Collections Management database.
Interns will gain hands-on experience working within historic WWII collections and will become familiar with cataloging and archival processes. Applicants should be highly organized, have strong attention to detail, and be able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
